This mystery remains a mystery to me, but a notice has been added to the Gaffaweb site informing readers of the problem and advising them to subscribe to the mailing list instead, with instructions on how to do so. So at least people who are aware of our site will be aware of the current situation. (Credit where credit is due: the notice was added at the suggestion of one Steve Berlin, whose brain is obviously functioning, unlike mine...)
