Violet, the sticky tape, and Dreaming headphones

People,
 Hello. I didn't use any tape at all for my headphone Dreaming Plug. In 
fact, i was very confused about that. I must not have been paying close 
attention when people talked about it. All i did was to put the 
headphones in, start the cd, and then pull them out slowly. When i had it 
right, the vocals became echoey and distant, and the background vocals 
were quite loud. I know that doesn't work with all headphones or stereos, 
though, so that could also be the problem.
