I usually listen to Kate while perusing rec.music.gaffa. Never was a fan of
the "early, black & white" Kate, but not so now -

"The Kick Inside" is a masterpiece! Never thought so before. The gentle
lyrics (with powerful statements), the simple but oh so effective piano
accompaniment, etc. This just might supplant "Under the Ivy" as my favorite
of Kate's "little pieces."

I have the lyrics, of course, but could someone please point the way to a
Katexplanation of the story? I get the basics, but what else am I missing
-?

She is such a magical artist. I can't believe that it seems EVERY DAY I
find something else to appreciate.
