She had some vocals in mind for Prince (yes, he's changed his name back again - or so I heard). She sent a multi-track tape over to him, asking that he record the backing vocals and the solo vocal bit in the middle (ultimately sung by comic Lenny Henry). Prince didn't do quite as asked, and recorded a whole track for her. He also forgot to record the middle vocal bit. On returning the tape, Kate had to chop and change it to fit her original plans for the song. Later... Peter Chow from London (UK)
