IED was perhaps not clear. By "wrong" IED didn't mean to make
a moral judgement, exactly. (Note also the word "arguably" in
his original remark -- looks like he wasn't far wrong there!)
He only meant that she might be doing herself physical harm
by smoking, and that in that sense her decision to smoke might
(arguably!) be considered a (gulp!) mistake.

Or not.
