Tape collection?

Subject: Tape collection?

Herewith poking my lurker head up above the virtual horizon and asking
if someone can tell me the protocol for access to the tape collection?
Is it OK to come in after the fact and ask if there's a way for me to
acquire a copy? I'm happy to follow the rules, make dubs, share dubs
of what I've got (pitifully-little KaTe). What do one do? 

Or am I just out of luck? :-(
