I too considered Kate somewhat lacking in acting talent the first couple of times I saw the film, but I have come to believe (see, I'd put "understand" there if I were Drukman or IED) that Kate's apparent stiltedness is a stylistic affectation which suits the scenario admirably - I dare say most people would be somewhat dazed and confused when finding themselves in a mirror world... - Craig @ SCO near London.
