Subject: In The Empty Bullring
To: love-hounds@uunet.uu.net
In the b-side "The Empty Bullring", Kate mentions "Tamlin (Tamlain?) in her tower". In an interview she states that this refers to a maiden kept in a tower in a traditional fairy story. Does anyone know what story is being referred to? I've never come across it and would like to hunt it down. In the famous Scots ballad "Tamlin", the person named "Tamlin" is a male, and the female is named Janet or Margaret. I was wondering if Kate got mixed up or if she is referring to an obscure story that somebody out there can enlighten me on. Thanks - - Douglas MacGowan dmacgowan@air-ca.org
