Another interesting take on the Templars (as well as literally dozens
of other conspiracy favorites) is _Holy Blood, Holy Grail_.  Sorry
can't recall the authors offhand.

It reads somewhat like a real-life Foucault's Pendulum, as it purports
to be factually based.
