In Enghlish and European literataure in the 19th and early 20th century, it was not uncommon to see characters or acquaintances of characters referred to by single letters. For example, Emma, from the Jane Austen novel might receive a letter from "G_". In Franz Kafka's "The Castle", the protagonist is called "K". For Kate, literate person that she is, imitating that style would be a no brainer. Obviously putting too much thought into this, Ben Miller bmiller@zdlmail.zdlabs.ziff.com PS: Someone play "Hammer Horror" in memory of Peter Cushing.
