Subject: "The Sensual World" is gold in the USA!!!
To: love-hounds@uunet.UU.NET
Huge news from the latest Billboard (Nov. 13). In their list of albums that have been certified gold this month, they say: Kate Bush, "The Sensual World," Columbia, her first. I've been waiting over ten years for an announcement like that! Homeground Tower's recent news about "The Red Shoes" debuting at no. 28 must be an advance notice, because in this latest issue the album doesn't appear on the chart yet. Other Kate items from this issue of Billboard: There's a review of "Rubberband Girl": "Fun, funky, and full of appropriately flexible sounds, including the subtle vocal tricks Bush has made her calling card. Toe-tapping and head-bopping, this one would be a cool, ear-catching addition to any playlist, but perceptive pop/rock programmers may hear drivetime potential here." The review gets a star, indicating that it is a "Critic's Choice". In the Program Director of the Week column, they profile album alternative stations WRLG/WRLT Nashville. Among the songs listed as played in a recent afternoon hour is "Rubberband Girl". In all the years that I've seen this column, this is the first time that a Kate song is included in the "typical hour". "Eat the Music" has fallen to no. 30 on the Modern Rock Tracks Chart. Next week, it'll undoubtedly have fallen off. "Rubberband Girl" might enter the chart then. Ed ed@wente.llnl.gov
