I've been given a cursory explanation by one person of the meaning of the set of songs in 'The Ninth Wave', namely that it is an account of a person lost at sea, trying to stay awake, etc. Since I am getting aquainted with the Hounds of Love album for the first time, this interpretation sounds plausible. However, I'd be interested in other peoples ideas as well - and pointers to any FAQ articles or the like which might be in existance, also lyrics for all the songs. Some points of this interpretation are not clear to me; for example, what's going on exactly in Waking the Witch, is the helicopter at the end to mean she's rescued, is she dead in later passages like 'Watching You Without Me' and Hello Earth' or just unconcious. In addition, I'd be interested if anyone thinks this interpretation is completely erroneous - assuming you can offer a better one :-) Thanks Mark Jeghers
