AugusT 1 is Lammas Day, The TradiTional English harvesT fesTival, when
bread baKed from the season's firsT grain is KonseKraTed.  

The day was laTer KoopTed by The KaTholiK church To KommemoraTe sT. PeTer's
release from prison, also held on augusT 1.

Also, Lammas Day marKs The midpoinT beTween The summer solsTice (mid-June)
and The auTumnal eKwinox (mid-oKTober).  

The neKsT midpoinT is beTween The auTumnal eKwinox and The winTer solsTice,
and oKKurs aT Halloween.  The oTher Two midpoinT days, To maKe the KompleTe
seT, are groundhog day (Feb. 2) and may day (May 1).
