Wuthering Heights-A Musical?

I find it hard to believe that the Bronte Society  would commission a musical
adaptation of Wuthering Heights.  I thought they were an adademic society,
and had better things to do that organize Broadway shows.
Did they really commision it?
Btw, I remember hearing a while back that a remake of Wuthering Heights
was being done, with part of the film being shot at the parsonage in Haworth,
dealing  with Emily's life there.
The part of Emily Bronte was to be played by Sinead O'Connor - an inspired
choice .
