Festival of Nations, International House

			FESTIVAL OF NATIONS

International House at the University of Chicago will host its 
annual FESTIVAL OF NATIONS on Sunday, May 10 from 3-8 pm, featuring 
food, films, music, dance, and displays from over 20 nations.

That description does not even begin to capture the extravaganza
spread over several large rooms, auditoriums, hallways, a beautiful
open air courtyard, and two floors:

 Professional-quality entertainment from around the world
 Films from just about everywhere
 Music groups, of all types
 Japanese Tea ceremony (plus costumes, and karate, and food...)
 Three Chinese booths: Taiwan, Hong-Kong, Mainland
 But one combined booth from Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan!
 (Mutual Affection or Laziness? Whatever, the food will be fantastic!)
 The only Indonesian food in chicago, and it will be great!
 Korean food grilled in front of you
 Belgian Waffles made to order
 Middle Eastern kababs, desserts, costumes,...of all sorts
 Scandinavian fruit soup 
 Italian cheeses and wines
 The English will be there
 And the French
 Brazilian drinks, food, and friendliness
 How about some Mexican? 
 Ever heard of THE WELSH DIASPORA? Find out; they'll be there!
 And a few "separatist" American states

This is just a selection; there will be much much much more.

Admission is $6, or $12 for families with children (12 and under).

International House is located at 1414 East 59th Street
(between Blackstone and Dorchester Avenues),
near the Museum of Science and Industry.

If you take public transportation, we are:
Just 1/2 block west of the 59th st. IC/Metra stop
Just  1  block west of the 59th st. stop of the Jeffrey Express (#6).

By car:
Lake Shore: Exit at 57th street (the Museum of Science and Industry)
           Then about four blocks west, two blocks south
Dan Ryan (I90-94): Exit at Garfield Blvd. (55th street)
                   Then about fourteen blocks east, four blocks south
