re: Katemas parties in Australia...

Just a quick followup to the article that we wrote during the Katemas party.

We had about 10 people come along. Graham (my flatmate) organised the
whole thing. I merely supplied the BBQ.

Yes, that's right, we had a barbeque. Silly sort of thing to do in the middle
of winter, esp. at night, but well, it was the Australian thing to do.

Naturally we played KaTe all night. We played her videos earlier, and then
while we were sitting outside, freezing our arses off, we listened to even more
KT. The rest of the night was given over to chatting about all sorts of
things, including KaTe, as well as listening to other pieces of KaTe
aesoterica. This included "Moving", the double album of her live works,
"Kate Bush Live", an EP with even more live stuff, and so on.

We too had a Kake, albeit a microwaved choccy cake. We placed 3 candles in
it, sang happy birthday to her, and then pigged out. It all finished as people
drifted off into the night, at about 11pm.

It was a gentle joyful night, good friends (including one who turned up
out of the blue) and so on. When I think about it normally, having a
birthday party for a creative woman whom we don't really know seems a bit
bizarre, then again so does having a birthday for a 2000 year old deity :-)

Still, KaTe, if you're watching, we enjoy it. Your music gives us a lot
to celebrate.
