Subject: Paddy inquiry
To: Love-Hounds From: Andrew Marvick (IED) Subject: Paddy inquiry Bob Krovetz aks: > Has Paddy Bush appeared on any albums besides those of Kate? > (albums in which Kate has a vocal would count). What are > some of the "unusual" instruments he's made for her? Have > any other artists used instruments he built? IED believes Paddy has played on some of Roy Harper's recordings, and he also played mandolin on several tracks on Shelleyan Orphan's first LP, _Helleborine_. He has played a large number of obscure instruments on Kate's albums, but IED doesn't know how many of those were actually reconstructed by him. He _has_ reconstructed a fujare, a strumento da porco, a valiha, and a bull-roarer. IED doesn't know whether other artists have ever used any of his reconstructions. There is a colour photo of one of Paddy's arcane instruments in an early Kate Bush Club _Newsletter_, though, and it looks extremely convincing and beautiful. He is obviously a master woodworker. -- Andrew Marvick
