Subject: Announcing JUMP IN THE RIVER, The Sinead O'Connor
Relay-Version: VMS News - V5.9C 19/12/89 VAX/VMS V5.2; site debet.nhh.no Path: debet!barsoom!nuug!sunic!mcsun!uunet!snorkelwacker!mit-eddie!PRESTO.IG.COM!mcb@PRESTO.IG.COM Newsgroups: rec.music.gaffa Subject: Announcing JUMP IN THE RIVER, The Sinead O'Connor Mailing List Message-ID: <9003240244.AA16469@presto.ig.com> From: mcb@PRESTO.IG.COM (Michael C. Berch) Date: 24 Mar 90 02:43:59 GMT Sender: daemon@eddie.mit.edu (Mr Background) Organization: Love-Hounds Anonymous Approved: nessus@eddie.mit.edu Lines: 69 In conjunction with the release of her second album, "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got.", and in response to the many requests I have received by mail over the last couple of weeks, I am pleased to announce the formation of JUMP IN THE RIVER The Sinead O'Connor Mailing List I expect Jump-in-the-River to be similar to other lists of the genre, e.g., Ceremony, Love-Hounds, Chalkhills, and so forth. It will NOT be a digest, though a digest format may be offered as well in the future for people who prefer it to individual messages. An archive will be set up as well for anonymous FTP and possible UUCP, along with resources such as fan club, record company, and music publisher addresses, lyric files, and so forth. The list will not be edited/moderated in the traditional sense, but the authors of inappropriate messages ("Hey, what did you think of Judas Priest's last album, huh?") pointless provocation ("Sinead is/was a skinhead, therefore she must be a Nazi, right?"), and/or uninteresting flame wars will be quietly and politely suppressed. The list should be up and running in a few days. Please send subscription requests to jump-in-the-river-request@presto.ig.com or, for those averse to so much typing, jitr-request@presto.ig.com For those unable to use domain addresses, these addresses can be reached via UUCP using the path: {apple,ames,rutgers}!bionet!ig!jitr-request or for UUNET subscribers only: uunet!presto.ig.com!jitr-request The submission addresses, effective this weekend, will be the obvious: Internet: jump-in-the-river@presto.ig.com jitr@presto.ig.com General UUCP: {apple,ames,rutgers}!bionet!ig!jump-in-the-river {apple, ames, rutgers}!bionet!ig!jitr UUNET members: uunet!presto.ig.com!jump-in-the-river uunet!presto.ig.com!jitr When you request a subscription, please provide an unambiguous mail address; we prefer domain addresses, but can handle UUCP paths. If you site is in the UUCP maps, site!user is fine; otherwise please provide a path from a well-known site. BITNET subscribers are welcome; I plan to arrange direct BITNET LISTSERV access at a future time; for now, BITNET subscriptions will be mailed directly. Site redistribution lists are welcome as well. The list should be in operation by Monday, 26 March, but please wait for a confirmation from me (you'll get one when you sign up) before making submissions. I've been working on a short review of "I Do Not Want...", so that will probably be one of the first real messages. Have fun, Michael (personal mail) mcb@presto.ig.com (list stuff) jump-in-the-river-request@presto.ig.com
