Subject: Daniel Lanois solo album: Acadie
Canadian superstar producer Daniel Lanois (M+M/Martha & the Muffins, Parachute Club, U2, Peter Gabriel, Robbie Robertson) has been lying low and doing his own solo album just as he intimated at the Grammies press conference. It's called "Acadie" after the area in the Maritimes (the chunk of Canada bordering on Maine) his ancestors came from. (By the way, this is the second-largest francophone region in North America; remember, not all French-Canadians are Quebecois.) The cuts they played on CBC's Sunday Morning were inspired by the French folksongs of his childhood, also sung "en francais". This is a warning to all that this album may not be released outside of Canada, as there has been no mention of it in the press and it will have a high French content. Hmm . . . anyone up north know for sure? Is it out in Canada? Is his sister Jocelyne (ex-bassist of M+M) on it? gld -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Je me souviens ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gary L.
