I hate to be such a spoilsport, but it was probably done for the very mundane reason of copyright infringment. Technically, all these records you hear with snippets of other people's songs, or films, or home movie audio tracks, or whatever, are supposed to be paying royalties on them. When they fail to properly credit the original source and/or pay royalties, it's time for the fun 1980's game: SUE YOUR NEIGHBOR! I would bet a lot of money that Kate re-created the Night Of The Demon line because of copyright. On the other hand, when you sample off a film soundtrack, you tend to get a lot of added noise, so maybe she was just trying to be Hi-Fi kind of person? ------------- ! !\ BITNET: jsd@umass \!on !/rukman ARPANET: jsd%umass.bitnet@mitvma.mit.edu
