Starting with the more obvious: Danielle Dax, Shriekback, Siouxie Sioux (with or without the Banshees), earlier Genesis (or later, for that matter), Laurie Anderson (in a weird way), Suzanne Vega, the first 2 of Phil Collins solo albums (if you can stomach the horns, that is...e.g. "I Don't Care Anymore"), etc. (the Beatles clearly count, too, but...) And progressing to groups/artists whose similarity is more tenuous: King Crimson (e.g. the title track of "Three of a Perfect Pair"), the Monochrome Set, Stan Ridgeway (with or without Wall of Voodoo), Echo and the Bunnymen, the less commercial efforts of Duran Duran (what there are of them), etc. -- "When you're down, it's a long way up When you're up, it's a long way down It's all the same thing And it's no new tale to tell" ../ray\..
