Bulgarka and Trio Bulgaria were in town last night (unfortunately their last US concert of the tour). It was wonderful. I can't wait to hear what they sound like on Kate's upcoming album. As IED mentoined in his review, the trio was actually a duo for the tour, but they sounded great anyway. There were about 300 in the audience. By about the fourth tune, a group of six or seven started dancing (in what looked to be an authentic style - I really don't know - they appeared to know what they were doing...) Bulgarka (especially the tambura player) really got a kick out of it. At the end of the concert, the younger woman of the trio (duo) came down into the audience and danced with the audience. After two songs, the instrumentalists came down into the center of the circle of dancers and played several more tunes (at least 15 minutes). Everyone had a great time. I second IED's recommendation. If any of you get a chance to see them (Atlanta was their last US stop, I don't know were they're headed next), don't miss it. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Virtue is its own punishment.
