Actually, no matter what its slogan was, WLIR was completely programmed
by Lee Abrams, the man widely considered responsible for the vast
commercial wasteland that FM radio became in the early eighties.  I liked
the music well enough, but the "spontaneity" could become a bit tiresome
if you knew it was all preprogrammed.  I don't know if WDRE still subscribes
to Abrams.
