Computer Music

The Symposium of the International Musicological Society and
Festival of Music will be held in Melbourne from 28 August
to 2nd September. Themes of the symposium are:
	(a) music since c. 1960
	(b) Cultural interaction through music
	(c) Analogy, Relations between Musical and Non-musical Structutres

A session entitled "Changing Concepts of Musical Structure
in the Development of Computer and Experimental Music" will be
held on 2nd September, 8.45 - 11.00am, at the
Victorian College of the Arts, with papers by James Dashow, Andrew Czink
and Larry Polansky. There are also sessions on Post-Modernist Composition
and Analogy and Metaphor in theory Building.

As well, there will be 2 concerts of computer music by leading
Australian and international composers at the VCA, room 113, on:

	Wednesday 31st August, 8.15pm, and

	Friday 2nd September, 1pm.
