Sounds like filking/filk-singing! Add some silly dragon songs and
parodies of Star Trek/Star Wars/Dr Who and that's what I call a
filkibration. Wierd Al's songs are often welcomed also.
Filk, by the way, is alledged to have started as a misprint in the
invitations to a folk-song party, quite some time ago.
