My Roky and my Kate they comfort me
Kate makes me down to lie anywhere she wants me to
and in her infinite mercy and compassion
pushes my metaphor with the most delicate touch.
She is my most amazing savior,
teaching as she strums,
strumming as she preaches,
and never letting anyone leach off her.
Especially not some ultra-suave, pretentious jerk
who calls himself a lover but could do nothing more
than drag her down for his own glory.

And Roky(who's more than just a crisped out child of the sixties)

Ah yes. You speak truly, master KDR (are you related to CDR?) For when I
haave felt the weight of the world upon my weak back and my homework is all
a semester overdue, Kate comforts me, and I do listen with great attention
and admiration, for it is true that she has never worked with Phil Spector,
neither Phil Collins, and yet she has written hit songs. And these hit songs
are not merely pop for the masses, they are gems of great value to those of us
with posters on our walls and overdue divs. It is for this reason that I,
a boy (a tall boy) who never reads this notesfile, respond to thy heartfelt
ode to Kate Bush, the wonder of the modern pop industry and stuff like that.
My words grow lengthy, even unto the length of "Hysteresis" (which isn't
such a long word after all, I guess), so I must go. Listen well, KDR, and let
me know if you hear of any new albums.

Read the Electronic Communications Privacy Act. You'll get paranoid

As for the Usenet/newspaper analogy: supposedly Doug Alan is the
moderator. One could make a case that this puts him in the same
position as a magazine editor. A magazine editor has no legal
problems if he prints the word "fuck". A magazine editor could be in
serious trouble if he prints statements saying that a private
individual is a crook, etc. (For public figures "actual malice" and
"reckless disregard for the truth" must be shown and there's a lot
more freedom -- I can say "Reagan's a crook" with a lot less worry
than I can say "Tim W. is a crook").

Why not? Standard practice in lawsuits these days is to sue
everyone, make the proceedings as complex and messy as possible, and
get people to settle out of court, conceding defeat without a trial.
As I said before, the moderator is the biggest sitting duck, because
it's easy to prove his association with gaffa.
By the way, please don't associate me with Tipper Gore and her gang;
there should be no limits on what can be recorded and no rating
system. I support Jello Biafra!

This is not what I'm saying at all. No rating system, no record
bans. I'm only against vile personal attacks on contributors to the list,
and I suggest that the moderator return such attacks to their senders.
Attacks on public figures (Madonna! gag me) are fair game.
This will probably be my last message on this subject; this list
should discuss music.
