Subject: Sonic Youth White Album...
Apparently, Folks, it's all talk and no do so you may as just well send away for the Pussy Galore cassette of Exile On Main Street (no address but it's floating around in zines and so forth). I also heard Sonic Youth were going to refilm "Gone With The Wind" with Thurston as Ashley, Henry as Rhett and Lydia Lunch as Scarlett O'Hara. I believe THAT one when I see it. As for the discography, besides the Starpower 12", it looks okay. The cut on the Chemical Imbalance 7" is a live version (done incidentally at the June gig at the 9:30 club and recorded by Tom Lyle (G.I.'s) ) of "Marilyn Moore" from EVOL (which is pronounced correctly, I'm told, as E-V-O-L). Also, among other numerous compilations, they put "Kill Yr Idols" on the sup-pop 100 vompilation and it sounds like a better mastering job was done. Also there is a early version of "Death Valley '69" on a 7" floating around - but it's one the band wasn't too thrilled with releasing but someone else owned the right apparently. As for the people who said 1986 was an un-noteworthy year for record releases, I say you are all full of offal and haven't been listening to a word me, John Hogge, Bill Hsu and yes, even Wicinski have been saying. Open your eyes - and take off your Melody Maker blinders.
