Subject: Why I listened to KaTe originally
To Nancy Everson's friend whose name temporarily eludes me... Well I was flipping around the channels on the TV set one morning, and they happened to be running a long set of "hounds of love" videos including "Running Up That Hill", "The Big Sky" and "Cloudbusting"... I had heard RutH and taped it off my local radio station, but when I heard "The Big Sky" I thought that "This is an album I have to own"... The reason? I don't know, it just sounded like a fun song and I liked "RutH" so I decided that at least two good songs make an album worth owning and bought it. Good move, too. I got "The Dreaming" because I had heard that it was an innovative, complex album with lots of nifty percussion, and I'm a big fan of nifty percussion. So as to what motivates someone to take that first listen, it's really a question of being in the right place at the right time. jon drukman ARPA: jsd%oz@mit-mc BITNET: drukman@umass
