Shriekback, Kate Bush

The new Shriekback album sounds like "simple minds"???
It only reminds me of the earlier shimmering guitars that they
employed - unfortunately, todays Simple Minds has nothing to do
with that glorious era... I *hope* that that's what Shriekback
were referring to.

<Big Night Music> does NOT knock <Oil And Gold> on its ass!!
Oil and Gold had a certain undefinable element that underlied all
the songs - that element is there in spots on Big Night Music, but
some of the songs just don't make it. "Pretty Little Things" is
obviously just a joke, but it robs the LP of dignity.
Still, the band still puts on a hell of a live show - just caught
them for the second time last night (11/7) here at UMass.
They had the best sound mix I've ever heard at a live show - and
Martyn Barker's drums just punched holes in your eardrums. Wow.

I was going to say how Kate Bush's "Experiment IV" sounds a bit
calculated, but I've got a weak spot for Kate, and I love the lyrics,
so even if it is a bit 'mersh, I'll still listen to it.
