Well ---

Acting on Doug's reccomendation, I now have "Pop-Eyes" and the
"Yummer-Yummer Man" 12" by Danielle Dax. YOW!! Everyone, I must agree
that this is seriously *way* stuff. I don't note a Nina Hagen influence,
as Mr. Hoffman said, but here's what "Pop-Eyes" reminds me of:
Pere Ubu (circa "Bailing Man"; a *lot*)
	Laurie Anderson (circa "Big Science")
	Throbbing Gristle / Chris&Cosey
	Kate Bush (o'course)
...but mostly it's just completely idiosyncratic and unique. Shows what
can be done with acceptable proficiency at several instruments, your own
4-track recorder, and LOTS of creativity.

The single, "Yummer-Yummer Man", "Bad Miss 'M'", "Fizzing Human Bomb", is
quite different; weird rockabilly/whatever, maybe I'll cite Led Zeppelin III
and ZZ Top as what it reminds me of musically (although neither of those have
ever used a theremin, to my knowlege!). But somehow done by the same person
and coming out of the same musical territory.

Ahem. Yes, the party. IED, I'm certainly interested. I'd be glad if
it were > 1 1/2 weeks from now, as I'm deeply immersed in researching,
typesetting, and laying-out the Caltech student handbook at the moment. Can
you give directions to your place? I (and Greg Earle too, I presume) will
be coming from the direction of Pasadena. Who all is out there? Will
people from Out East fly over for the party? Will I get to meet Shelli and
Hoff-dude and the others? Ah well. Let me know if there's anything I should
bring...
