Subject: More depression
Wire's "154" is no happy item. Stuff like "The Other Window" ("...a black horse fighting for its life...the more it struggled, the more it strangled..."); "Indirect Inquiries"; and the second-to-last tune of side one (name escapes me!) simply turn one's blood to cottage cheese (large curd, too). The music AND lyrics are chilling at times, with lots of commentary on psychological warfare within the self and between boys and boys, boys and girls, and girls and girls (no order intended here). "Two People in a Room" is an example of the latter. The tracks tend to alternate between monsterdepression and pop or violence (i.e., slow/fast). Great toy, this one. "hiding in a column" Tim Snyder
