Subject: An Experiment
I realize that this is *totally* off the subject, but it was such a neat discovery that I'd share it with all you lovers of that ill-defined genre of music called art rock. Only Pink Floyd fans need read on, the rest of you can skip this. The setup: 1) Find someone who hasn't listened very closely to the CD version of The Wall (it could be you) but who is (relatively) familiar with the album. 2) Find a copy of The Wall on album and CD with the appropriate equipment to play it on. The experiment: 1) Have the subject listen very closely to the last song on side 4 and then the first song on side 1 using the album. 2) Do the same thing with the CD. I was so blown away by what I heard on the CD that I just couldn't control myself. I'm interested in what you hear, and what medium you hear it on first. BTW: I have a very mid-fi system, please include what type of system you have if you tell me what results you find. Course, The Wall is undeniably my favorite album (I like the Kate Bush that I've heard, but it just doesn't move me as totally The Wall) so I know it quite well. I do notice that the CD version allows me to hear the backround voices quite well (you can hear the P.A. in the airport!). Raving off... Good listening! (I have to go hunting for a decent record store, at least now they're starting to stock KB *records* at Wherehouse. Maybe they'll see the light and bring in her CD's.) -- Chris Yoder UUCP --- {allegra|ihnp4}!scgvaxd!engvax!chris ARPA --- engvax!chris@cit-vax.ARPA
