My tuppen'orth on wassailing.......

wassailing is "making merry" and can be done on any festival.....it usually
denotes the drinking of mulled ale/cider/wine, depending on which
festival....

"Mulled" originally meant being warmed with a red-hot poker, but has now come
to meana hot, highly spiced punch-like drink made with one of the above
drinks as a base."Wassail" is shouted in much the same way as "cheers", or
"bottoms up" or whatever......
