Strange delay phenomena

Just a question from a non-internet guru.  Several weeks back, I sent
the same note thrice (title: Top 10 (just for today)); 1. Directly to
rec.music.gaffa from my (now expired) gnn internet provider address,
2. To love-hounds@gryphon.com, again from my gnn ID, 3. To love-hounds
@gryphon.com from this ID.
The 3rd missive showed up as part of my love-hounds mail a day or two
later.  Yesterday one of the first two (not sure which) finally showed
up.  The other may never show up.
The question(s):  What causes such a delay? Why such a disparity between
two different internet IDs?  At first I thought the moderator was perhaps
playing 10-pins with old man Van Winkle, but that doesn't explain how
or why the 3rd send (which actually occurred 3 days after the first two)
did get posted about on schedule.
