Vermorel's "Secret History" has actually been much criticized; the
FAQ, for example, will tell you that it's "only recommend [sic] for
the photos"---and maybe the chap deserves it. 

Still, there is a lot more to the book than that. The writing style is
impressive (cf. the "clumsy" approach of  "Kate Bush: A Visual
Documentary"; can't recall the name of the two authors at the moment,
and the FAQ doesn't help), and there are interesting, and arguably
flattering, references to various personalities (like English painter
David Hockney and American (?) composer Bernard Herrmann) as well
as---perhaps most notably and as pointed out above---a _tour the
force_ genealogy.

Actually, for anyone with some interest in Kate's family history,
"Secret History" cannot possibly be recommended only for
the---admittedly mostly stunning---pictures.
