Murphy was one of the finest blues guitarists in England. He plays on almost every KT album up to the last one. I was told he died of AIDS. (??) When everyone in my band couldn't get off on KT, everyone got off on his work. For a really good example, take a look at Hammersmith. Pure tone, a perfect touch, lively lines. He returned from a US tour with John Mayall (??) to be recruited for the KT Tour of Life. After that, he was the one she would call into the studio and say something like, "play me a jaguar" or some nonsense like that, and he never ever disappointed her. Like McAlyea, he stayed with her first to last. Whatever else she does, her musicians stick to her. Unless you play in a band, it might be hard to understand what kind of complement that is. It almost broke my heart when I heard of his death, and I'm sure it broke hers. So that is why the passion is in that line. It is the one part of TLTCTC that got me the first time and still does. I loved the dude's touch. He had a *voice*. BTW, Violet: Rick Nelson's last gig was in a small alley club very near to me here. Whenever we play it, we remember him. "I'm a travelin' man, made a lotta stops, all over the world..". len
