Hmm. I loved the Gershwin. Kate's voice was a perfect fit for that style. Good control, good delivery, clear as a bell to a southerly wind. Very like the late twenties and thirties movies when they used sopranos a lot because it was a range and timbre the microphones of the day could reproduce. Yeah, she has a dent. It is noticeable on the MTV Sensual World interview. It is probably the result from the wear in the early years when everyone just HAD to kiss her. Lucky sods. I don't know about the Ian Anderson story. I have the Prince's Trust Concert and the strap on the dress broke as she sang. The dress is too small by about a size and she filled it in thought provoking ways. To keep her left wonderfulness from becoming more wonderful, she grabbed the strap cradling the mic cord, hung on to the mic and didn't miss a note. The smile at the end with the reddening face is one of the best shots of her I've ever seen of Kate. She was perfectly composed (and no doubt, well orchestrated).... Tori who? len
