I certainly wouldn't nail ANYONE to any kind of
cross. Nasty affairs, those crucifictions. I hope
I was gently making a point . . . pardon me if not.

Regarding whether or not other artistic endeavors
by Kate would be good, well, we'd have to see them
first. I am not willing to accept a priori that
working in one medium automatically precludes the
possibility that one could be talented in another
medium. I think this concept is fostered by the
university system and by our society for convenience.

But, like many other concepts fostered by universities
and social systems, I don't think it is necessarily true.

The classification of artists into strict, non-
permeable categories may soon die out. With
the ability to create a story, corresponding visual
imagery, music to support the theme, and the ability
to draw a viewer into active participation, I predict
that we'll see people doing wildly exciting cross-media
projects.

Who can resist? The challenge is just too damned interesting.
The medium is too fun to work in. Now if they could just
make digital paint SMELL like oil paint we'd be getting
somewhere!

I hope to see in the near future the evolution of an
experiential artform composed of the marriage of
current art media, and a few not even thought of yet. I
also hope to see Kate dive in with the gusto she's shown
in filmmaking.

Specialization, in the immortal words of Mr. Heinlein, is for
insects.

what have you heard?
