Non Kate Content - Asking for book recommendation

Since I trust you guys about more than anyone, I'd like to know if anyone 
can recommend a USEFUL book on Windows.  One of our office's computers 
has puked big time.  I've traced the problem to Windows and have the 
thing running and mostly usable again, but have some minor problems such 
as fonts that are inaccesible, even though they're loaded.

None of the books I've looked at even admits the well-known fact that 
Windows sometimes crashes, much less what to do, or how to execute a 
major reinstall without executing every bit of work someone's ever done.

Unfortunately the computer in question has a backup of files only, not 
systems.
