The Cathy demos are way primitive.  Some people have accused them of being
3-track productions, but they sound pretty much like Kate turning the
boombox to record and going at it. None of them have backing vocals
(unless I'm forgetting one). The total effect is something along the lines
of having Kate come over to your home and sing a few numbers for you while
you sit with your head in a bucket. You hear it all, but not in hi-fi. But
most of the songs would have fit right in with the rest of "The Kick
Inside" (except for an atrocity or two like "Queen Eddie").
