In article <9501241605.AA34274@nettech1.nettech.com> you write: >>> Two nights ago, I ended up being left by two friends (who happened >>> to be my ride home) at a bar. They left me in the company of someone >>> who, shall we say, does not respect women very much, and apparently >>> has never heard the word "no." >> >> Sounds like one of the many fine men who read Playboy and Penthouse. >> Slobbering all over you was probably his highest compliment. > >You sound like one of the many fine men who over-generalize. I read Playboy >and Penthouse, but I don't act like this person. Agreed. I have been a Playboy reader since I was 11. (Being raised in a nudist camp, I was very used to the sight of naked skin. I read it for the articles.) A vanishingly small number of the readers of Playboy and Penthouse ever commit violent sexual crimes, and sexual crimes have existed as long as the human race, far longer than the printed image. Claiming that one caused the other shows, at best a complete lack of understanding of statistical coorelation. With all the real, horrible crimes being perpetrated against women around the world on a daily basis (female genital mutalation is widespread in the Muslim areas of Africa), that complaining about Playboy and Penthouse is the equivilent of going to an emergency room with a hangnail during a plague.
