just out of curiosity, chris, have you been reading a lot of
philip k. dick's work?  he is the one who first introduced me
to the idea of empathy as the defining characteristic of humanity.

and, btw, as an outsider, i tend to think that claiming that jorn
isn't human is a bit extreme.  and while i think that jorn's theory
is full of shit, and that jorn handled the whole thing badly, and
that a lot of regrettable things have been said on all sides, i 
think that this is perhaps the only thing that has been said that
absolutely *requires* an apology.
