Sarah's show last night (Wed.) was great, despite her voice apparently
being under some stress. She sounded pretty hoarse on an interview on
KDGE before the show (George Gimarc jokingly asked her if she was going to
do a live version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit." She said that he was think-
ing of "_another_ female singer-songwriter." %). Nonetheless, about 97% of
the time she was in fine form (sorry, Tori, you're not even close). But it
was weird to hear her hit the long notes in "Home" perfectly and apparently
effortlessly, when her speaking voice seemed fairly toasted between songs.
She was quite nice, BTW -- we flagged them down as they were driving out,
and she rolled down the window and signed stuff for us.

Set list: everything from _Solace_ except "Mercy" and the Donovan cover,
a new song titled "Elsewhere," plus "Out of the Shadows," "Steaming," and
"Vox" (the only encore). High points were (IMHO) "Black," "Terms,"
"Shelter," and "Vox."
