KaTeMas ... explanations, please?

Hi.  Another net.newbie and Kate Bush Fanatic posting for the first 
time.  (Eternal thanks to Mark-Jason Dominus for writing my newsposter
and making this possible.) I can't tell you all how pleased I was to
find this newsgroup - after being one of *three* Kate fans at my
(former) college, this is like a revelation.  I do, however, have
a few stupid questions (bear in mind while reading this that I've had
little access and less exposure to most Kate-related fan literature
and thus am ignorant of things that may seem obvious to most), to wit:


	1- Why do a lot of people here capitalize the "t" in Kate?


	2- I've seen a few references to something called KateMas
	   (or KaTeMas, see above) - what is this?  Her birthday?
	   (I kind of hope so, seeing as it's the same as mine: 7/30)
