Candle in the Wind

I finally got a hold of the single (as opposed to the *Two Rooms*
album) this past week.  I was at work and had to get work done, so I
tried to resist the temptation, but I could not and before long I
savagely inserted the CD single into my CD ROM drive.  I cranked up
the 'xcd' program and slapped on my headphones waiting to be in bliss
at Kate's wonderful performance of "Candle in the Wind".  If it was
half as good as Kate's exquisite rendition of "Rocket Man" this was
going going to be tasty indeed.

What assaulted my ears, however, was quite another thing.  Instead of
the genius of Kate Bush, I got a mix of Kate's beautiful vocals ruined
by being backed by a lame parody of new age muzak.  My horror was
amplified when this ersatz new age monstrosity was repeated without
Kate's vocals, as if someone were so proud of destroying a great song
that they wanted to gloat.  I haven't been this mortified since
hearing "Not This Time" for the first time.

Fortunately, I am sure this was not a dedicated assault on my musical
lobes on the part of Kate, but rather a one day throw-off.  I think
I'll throw it out.
