kaTe-alikes

A brief personal note on the point of the resemblance in others (e.g.
Mary Steenburgen) to KaTe.

A little over a year ago, I met a professor here at the Univ. of
Toronto--and had to do a double-take, for she bore an UNCANNY likeness
to KaTe, both in face and speech (she's English), though ~20 years
older. It was as if i'd stumbled into an alternative universe in which
KaTe, instead of leaving school at age 16 or so, had embarked on an
academic career (and to great success :)). Happily, not only is this
professor a thoroughly charming woman (thus extending more
satisfactorily the illusion, so to say), but she will also likely be
my doctoral thesis advisor for the next several years. A very
congenial prospect. :)  kaTe as Ph.d advisor... i can live with that.
