if i might tie a few knots in the thread spun by Jeff (YeffyDerVoosh) and William (bilbo eye eye eye): my favorite Clannad (pron. KLAHN-ned, give or take) albums are: Clannad in Concert -- stunning live irish 'trad', mostly sung in Gaeilge. Magical Ring -- in between their trad and rock phases. features the gorgeous "Harry's Game'. Fuaim -- Eithne/Enya makes her presence felt. mellow, a little 'jazzy' all of the old ones (Clannad, Clannad 2, Crann Ull, and Dulaman) are now available on CD from Shanachie Records -- they are all worth owning, IMHO. _Macalla_ (with a brief appearance from long-time fan Bono) and _Sirius_ are well crafted but kinda dull. _Legend_ is the sound- track from the UK "Robin Hood" tv series -- as William Stoner says, they are rarely found here in the states. some (rough) translations: Clannad = clan, family Fuaim = sound Crann Ull = apple tree Macalla = echo Dulaman = my dictionary says "channelled wrack"?! the album cover suggests a meaning of "stuff left at low tide", but i'm guessing... footah! -greg -- gb10@gte.com -- "a woman drew her long black hair out tight and fiddled whisper music on those strings and bats with baby faces in the violet light whistled, and beat their wings" -- T.S.
