Great - new gifs!! I think the best way to store them is in the standard
binary gif format. This is how all of the others at alaska are archived.
I don't think I have access to a de-ARC-er...you won't get much (if any)
compression on gifs anyway.
As to clutter, maybe you could add a Kon-prefix or Bill could make a new
directory. 
Actually I don't think that either of these is necessary because it is
quite easy to figure out which gifs to ftp - from looking at the dates.

Anyway, I think you should avoid the ARC route (it's an IBM format isn't
it?) because then you will have people like me who won't be able to view
the long awaited gifs, leading to more nagging like "can someone convert
the ARCived gifs for me..."
