well, i have nothing against gabriel 2.  as a serious fan, i find it
refreshing to listen to when i've overdone the others.  gabriel doesn't think
much of it, but sometimes artists end up hating their stuff.  i agree that
the live DIY is a big improvement. i kind of like 'on the air' in both forms;
at first the keyboard bit sounds a bit spacy (the studio version) but i can get
into it.  'indigo' had an earlier form ('a song without words') on the first
tour (my bootleg has that and 'on the air') and it's definitely among his
most heartbreaking songs.  and i love 'animal magic'.  someone was telling me
that different songs on the album sound just like other artists ('perspective'
sounds like a bowie song) but i don't know about that.  i think the complaint
is that the album sort of wanders.  but it's good.
