Subject: Sinead vs. Uncle Sam
All right. What is the problem here? I agree with just about everything Lazlo said... I have *NEVER* been to a concert of *any* type at which the national anthem is played. Not classical, not rock, not anything. I have never even wondered about it. I do wonder why this is a tradition at the GSAC. I do not think Sinead was out of line, and I certainly don't agree with DJs and their personal vendetta. But then again, I get sickened when I go to an Illini football game and the cheerleaders run around with red white and blues and everybody is so bloody American. People tend to over do it, but what can you say about the most ethnocentric country in the world? Oh, I just remembered a concert at which the star spangled banner was played. It was a big one, too. Woodstock. -mjm
